Swami Ji’s whole life is an inspiration, his stay on Earth being one long unbroken meditation. I remember two incidents especially from his life which has left an imprint on my mind. First concerns his shraddha for Holy Mother Sarada Devi. I have read how whenever he used to visit the Holy Mother, he used to bath and do extra long meditation and then go before her with some hesitation as if he, the ever pure, was not yet pure enough to present himself before Her, who was purity itself. How he showed Peson Maharaj, Vijnanananda ji how to salute the Holy Mother by himself doing sastanga pranam, how when a Moslem sadhaka ,whose disciple came away from him attracted by Swami Ji, caused Swami Ji to have severe bowel trouble and Swami Ji like a petulant child went to Holy Mother and complained that Thakur was nothing, he did not acknowledge Him, the Holy Mother replied smiling that, “My child, you are tied to Him sort of like a bride to the bridegroom during marriage” (I forgot the exact example). Swami Ji silently acknowledged the same and came away. Being myself in such a state that none but Holy Mother can redeem me, I remember these incidents so that I may imbibe some faith in the Holy Mother.
